The Nagatinsky Zaton station will be included in a single system of a transport interchange hub that combines the metro, surface transport and trade infrastructure. The city’s main transport network meets the residential area here. The station has one entrance zone, which originates on Kolomenskaya Street and connects the escalator, elevator and stair groups. Platform access is also designed with the needs of people with disabilities in mind. Respecting the existing urban plan, we have developed plans for the station with minimal interference with pedestrian areas.
The concept of the station is based on a new interpretation of the design of the traditional Russian metro, combined with minimalist space as a sign of a modern take on infrastructure. The architectural idea of the Nagatinsky Zaton metro station is based on the purity of the presented structures using rough materials such as natural stone slabs, blocks, concrete, metal structures.
In the course of preparation, the ideas of early constructivism had a significant influence on us. The structural approach to design and minimalism reflect the modern concept of infrastructure architecture. Through the use of coarse materials, it is possible to reduce maintenance costs. The columns, beams and ceiling are offered in rough textured concrete.
The ventilation system pipe above the trains is made of Corten steel. She carefully enters the area of stairs and leads to the hall. The platforms are made using light gray granite. The benches on the platforms match the name of the station, made of Corten steel.
